D3CoS, a project with 21 partners from 7 European countries PDF Print E-mail

The objective of the D3CoS project was to develop methods, techniques and tools (MTTs) for system engineers and to embed them in industrial system development processes to support affordable Development of highly innovative cooperative human-machine systems.

The business objectives of D3CoS where

  • to reduce the cost of System Development (including requirements capture, specification, development and evaluation) by 15-20% and
  • the needed Development cycles by 20-25% when applied to innovative and ambitious cooperative human-machine systems, and
  • to foster Embedded Systems for human-machine cooperation systems that are reusable in different transportation domains (Aeronautics, Automotive, Maritime).

To achieve the business objectives we realized a set of complementary S&T objectives that together contributed to a common, generic methodology applicable to the Industrial Development of DCoS. To ground the generic methodology, D3CoS relied on generic architectures and a framework for characterizing all distributed cooperative systems (DCoS) in the Manned Aircraft domain (e.g. cooperation in aircraft cockpits), UAV domain (e.g. cooperation between UAVs and ground controller), Automotive domain (cooperation between and within cars), and Maritime domain (cooperation between ships and port systems), along the on-board and traffic perspectives.

Final Event / Workshop PDF Print E-mail

After nearly three years of research, D3CoS has ended in great success. The final review was preceded by a joint workshop of the projects D3CoS, ASTUTE and EXCROSS. Please find details on our workshop page.

INDIN 2013 - Special Session

In a joint venture with ASTUTE and D3CoS, a special session at the INDIN 2013 on the topic of "Supporting Design and Development of Proactive Decision Engines and of Distributed Cooperative Human-Machine-Systems" has been organized. The INDIN conference in Bochum, Germany was from July 29 to July 31. Five presentations from each project have been presented and discussed during the afternoon session. Also visitors from outside both consortium participated to the session, so that up to 22 persons attended the session.
